Iona is at the north end of the airport runway. Jets come in low, which is the thrill. A long jetty reaches into the strait. It is windy and has almost no shade. The wetland beside it is for birds. Bring food and water. This is not a swimming beach. Sunset in summer and birds in winter are both good. Midday sun is harsh.
