Buntzen Lake is managed by the power company and is one of the family's swimming lakes in summer. The water is cold even in August, so be ready for children who only stand in the shallows. Lifeguard areas and hours depend on that year's notice. Do not swim far when there is no lifeguard. The full loop is long. With toddlers, stay near the beach. Peak parking costs money and often fills. October is for walking, not swimming.
